American News Presentation

WMBB, the Nexstar-owned ABC affiliate in Panama City, Florida, has dropped the Media General crescent era logo in favour of a new logo which looks good, something which can't be told always of Nexstar's own station logos, and it also has a quite old-school style which reminds of the former WTSP logo from the 90s. They have also dropped their standard-issue ABC package in favour of another also designed by Rey Rodriguez/Linear Drift, already in use by sister WRIC and their Washington D.C. duopoly (WDCW/WDVM).

WISH, the CW affiliate in Indianapolis (Circle City), had a slight facelift in their studio, replacing the old corner screens with a big, curved one:

The original set was built in 2018, nearing the end of Nexstar's ownership. It was sold following the Tribune merger later that year, and ultimately went to Circle City in 2019. Here's the old set's debut:

Its interest WISH 8 kept the video ribbons.... but it is a little busy with scrolling graphics. But keep in mind WISH 8 is now an independent and news is the stations brand now. Think what WSVN did back in the late 90s when they lost their NBC affiliation they made the news the prime programming.

And WLOX's new set was on a few days ago, finally jumping to the giant screen bandwagon:

Can't believe the old set was used for 11 years!

I can't believe the new set looks 11 year's old.

Sorry, but it does.

That’s a very awkward 10 minutes of television. I enjoyed it though the PowerPoint presentation detailing the numbers of monitors was high point.

The first ten minutes of the newscast being essentially a tour of the new set – guess they thought there was no actual news worth covering in that market. If that's not a turnoff for viewers to switch to another channel, I don't know what is.

That tour was WAAAAAAY too long. But Biloxi MS has a population of 50K. Its very small place. So for a market that extremely small, its impressive. But in any other market a new set will get a brief passing mention usually in the weather toss, but for them its a big deal. Escpecially since their last set was 10yrs ago. But it also goes to show how the cost of broadcasting equipment has really dropped making things like video walls accessible to even tiny news markets like Biloxi.

The tour appeared to be part of their 4PM local lifestyle show that some stations put out as filler, so it wasn't like they were using an actual news bulletin to spend pontificating about how great their new set was.
