American News Presentation

GrayOne has been introduced at KWQC in the Quad Cities, together with a massive throwback: the continued use of Hello News and the return of the station's well-known voice in the 90s, Jack Carey. It has also a new logo with elements of the station's 1990s brand, and has retained its longtime 6 numeral, although it also dropped the NBC Peacock as part of a corporate-wide mandate to distinguish its local portfolio from the networks, and reinforcing the stations' focus on local news.

The implementation of GrayOne and Hello News has been pulled out in stages by the station's creative services branding specialist (and one of its meteorologists) Cyle Dickens, who decided to take on the bold move of bringing back Hello News back in November, working with Gari Music's successor company Warner/Chappell Production Music to relicense the package as part of the station's 75th anniversary celebrations:

Watching these videos really show how low Fox has stooped.

US presentation is often stereotyped as over the top. Fox Report with Shepard Smith took it to another level.

Back in the day, i emailed Shepherd Smith and I remember he emailed me back. And he specific mention they were modelling The FOX Report on WSVN. WSVN played a huge influence on the graphically look of FNC for many years since its creation. THis was a time when many stations were following their style because the brash in your face presentation was really popular at the time. He also said the movement roving cameras was modeled after Citytv's CityPulse programme. From the sounds of it Shep was very invovled in the tone and the look of the programme. Early in his career Shep worked at WSVN. Which answers alot of those questions.

The new set is here. Not a fan of these LED columns though... otherwise, it's fine.

Sarkes Tarzian's CBS affiliate in Reno, Nevada, KTVN, has switched to the new CBS News Local package (still using Enforcer, albeit newer cuts). Not a straight rip-off, though, it is indeed the original package (although the L3s are quite unpolished in contrast to the CBS O&Os). They even have a "call-sign-in-a-box" logo and a "2 News Nevada" moniker and logo in the CBS corporate style.

Somehow that looks like a set you'd find in Germany or something. I acutally dont mind the columns. It would quite plain with outside. And i think the circular screens are pretty cool. Just depends what and how stuff gets displayed on them. Overall not bad. And for Sinclair, this is a massive investment. But this their flagship station. But also I have feeling Sinclair will likely use that studio for some of their weird right-leaning political programming. Which is probably another reason it lacks and hard branding.

AI Generated headlines on FUBO service. This is interesting. Took me a moment to understand what they were actually talking about. So when you go to the news section on the FUBO EPG, AI helps to figure out whats being talked about on a particular news channel at that exact moment. Clever.

News Nation has launched their first weekend expansion program, a weekend version of "Morning in America" weekends 7-10AMET , it's not much different in graphics to the weekday show, but it's done from NYC not Chicago HQ and presentation is more limited than weekdays, not much stand ups for example.

KUSI has moved into a temp set, reusing KSWB's newsdesk from 2013 (www.newscaststudio.com ). They're moving to a new studio in 2025, according to host Paul Rudy:

Thanks for sharing. KGO is in San Francisco, though they do have a bureau in San Jose.

I really liked their outgoing look, and I wasn't sure how the new standardized graphics would look, but I think they actually look great. If anything, it feels a little more flexible with more lower third options and with seemingly more chances to write more descriptive banners without squeezing the text. Their set is also still in my opinion the best in the market even though it's almost 8 years old.
