While the police brutality story is an important story the BBC will always prioritize US stories because that's where the ad revenues are. The news priorities of BBC WN have been very disappointing at times. Like making Angelina Jolie's mastectomy the top story or deciding a story explaining the peculiar South Korean trend of people watch others eat food online was important enough to be played at 10 minutes after the TOTH. And it was unlikely they had to change the running order due to tech problems because they had that order for next bulletin. These cuts to the BBC's funding and heavier reliance on advertising seem to be affecting the BBC's editorial decisions. I liked it when BBC World/World News was "Putting News First".
The ticker being stuck on those would be an improvement on headlines like "The Bear Who Couldn't Stop Taking Selfies", "How to Watch 2023's Oscar-nominated Films" or some soft story with a proper headline being the third story. It's absolutely ridiculous this has been going on for at least five years! It makes BBC WN look not serious and substandard.
