The problem for Martine is that being rather critical of the BBC news channel changes, has only put her as a target more than anything else. Certain people at the BBC have likely been waiting for her to do a critical slip up and she's only gone and done it.
And who's to say they would have kept her with the channel merger? Just remember what they tried to do with Martyn Lewis in 1999....they wanted to kick him off to World and he wasn't having any of it. Only this time, there won't be a World to be side lined to.
If anything, this might cause her to be more cautious about calling out the BBC, if she doesn't want the axe to fall on her.
