Were only a few weeks away, so does anyone have any details or hints on what this years concept will be?  What date could it be?

1st which is Thursday or will they wait until the 3rd which is a Saturday?

I predict it will feature the lens effect.  Rolleyes

In seriousness though, I imagine we are getting a new promo film and then 3 idents based off that. Or they could have just filmed a Christmas ident at the time of making the others. Maybe a living room/dining room scene at 3 different times of the day - present opening, lunch and then everyone watching TV/playing with toys. A news safe ident is just a shot of the tree and decorations. I guess we will find out soon enough.

They don't need to show us the idents until the actually day, ( I can't see that happening) For the past couple of years they have given us a few hints.

It will likely be the 4th due to the knock out stages of the world cup beginning on the day before which ultimately means less football coverage from that day.

It launched on Sunday 4th - 3 weeks before Christmas Day - in 2016.

Just after Strictly (or sometimes just after the One Show) has been the usual thing in recent years, hasn't it?

I was told that last year's Christmas idents featuring Shaun the Sheep were originally supposed to have the lens effect in them, but of course that was dropped when they chose to postpone the launch of their new ident package.

Considering the World Cup is occupying a lot of space on the BBC, I feel they will reveal their Christmas presentation on Friday 2nd December, with Strictly Come Dancing moved to a Friday night for that weekend. Friday could be a good day to launch their Christmas presentation this year.

Quote:This Christmas, Charlie Mackesy’s internationally bestselling illustrated book The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse will be coming to BBC One and iPlayer in a beautiful animated short film.

Captivating audiences on the BBC this Christmas, the short film brings to life the magic of the original book – with Charlie Mackesy’s distinctive illustrations reimagined in full colour with hand-drawn traditional animation.

The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse takes audiences of all ages on an extraordinary, poignant and heartfelt journey this festive season, as the deeply resonating story follows the unlikely friendship of a boy, a mole, a fox and a horse as they journey together in the boy’s search for home.

Breathing life into the book’s protagonists is an award-winning cast of actors including Tom Hollander as ‘the mole’, Idris Elba OBE as ‘the fox’, Gabriel Byrne as ‘the horse’ and newcomer Jude Coward Nicoll as ‘the boy’.

On bringing the project to screens, creator Charlie Mackesy says: “The journey of making the film of The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse with my ridiculously talented and kind animation team has been a magical one. It’s so great to think the story will be in the nation's homes this Christmas – and I really hope it helps bring comfort, love and laughter.”

Charlotte Moore, BBC Chief Content Officer says: “Charlie Mackesy’s heart-warming and inspirational story brought to life through NoneMore Productions’ and Bad Robot Productions’ beautiful animation, is about the importance of love, kindness and friendship. It’s the perfect fit for Christmas on the BBC and a reminder to us all about what really matters in this world."

A Matthew Freud production of a Charlie Mackesy film, produced by Cara Speller of NoneMore Productions and J.J. Abrams and Hannah Minghella of Bad Robot Productions. Co-directed by Charlie Mackesy and Peter Baynton, the film is adapted from the original book in collaboration with Jon Croker. Original score by composer Isobel Waller-Bridge, performed by the BBC Concert Orchestra and conducted by Geoff Alexander.

The film has been acquired by Charlotte Moore, BBC Chief Content Officer and Ayela Butt, BBC Drama Commissioning Executive.

I don't see this being part of the BBC One Christmas idents - not the same as Shaun the Sheep production from last year.
