ITV have always been the cheap and a bit cheerful approach and of course this had led to inconsistency in its presentation over the decades.
ITV in 2011 was the worst, with the regular idents used with an animated Santa sitting on the logo, or putting Christmas lights over the logo - looked awful, especially when they aired the idents used for summer.

And saying it's not commercial for them...Christmas Day isn't commercial for them, but the run up to it, advertiser's will spend more than they do the rest of the year so it's probably ITVs most profitable time of the year, so of course they should invent a bit more into their Christmas packages.
