But yes far more of the non-singers and dancers have been international. It doesn’t bother me at all as the shoe needs the variety the international acts bring.(22-04-2023, 08:18 PM)Newshound47 Wrote: Is the show running out of homegrown talent as this series seem to usve even more acts coming straight over from abroad to perform.
Yes it's been like that for years. There's always going to be a limit to how many UK based acts there are that aren't singers and dancers. They had to reduce the number of audition days they did a few years ago (and quite last minute) because they're running low on the number of acts available. That's part of the reason why BGMT came to an end.
It's the same for international versions of the show and you'll notice how they often mention which other versions they've previously appeared on.
Not sure if they’re running so low on acts that they wouldn’t have enough for BGMT though. They filmed 10 days of auditions this year. I’m not sure how many acts they see per day but I’d assume it’s 15-20, so that’s 150-200 acts in total. They seem to average about 10 acts per episode, so that’s about 80 across the series. So there’s plenty of material left on the cutting room floor. A lot of those acts might not be much cop but the bar for appearing on BGMT was pretty low anyway as it was more about Stephen and the judges/Ant & Dec.
The first year after BGMT went they did that BGT Unseen show on the ITV Hub with extra acts (but no host) but don’t think they’ve bothered with that since it came back from the year off.
