It is more than a simple new set. It is a move to a new wing of the ORF headquarters, located in the Küniglberg valley in Vienna, where already most of its services come. That new wing, named ORF-Mediencampus, was designed to centralise the operations of their national radio services (Ö1 and Hitradio Ö3) and each of the ORF newsrooms from online, radio and TV. The existing studio, used since 2007, won't be eventually put offline, with sports programming using it.

The new set was designed by Veech x Veech, ORF's architect of record, with displays provided by ETC and lighting from Kino Flo. Graphically, the existing graphics will be retained, but there will be more AR elements. Earlier today, the ZIB shows aired a report on the upcoming set.

It is planning to launch a streaming news channel in the near future; it will be named ORF Newsroom, and will work as a "make your own news programme" service, with multiple live streams, plus the ability to personalise the running order of videos. It is part of a larger repositioning project of the ORF's website (orf.at, also known as ORF On) to make it more responsive and interactive for users.
