A third-party solution - maybe similar to Sky - might seem to be the answer, even if it's not the most ideal.
Meanwhile, TVNZ have rubberstamped the axing of their Midday and Tonight news programmes - with unions pushing ahead with legal action as a result.
A decision on Sunday's future is expected later today (our time) while a 'Fair Go' consumer affairs unit is being set up to replace the titular programme.

Shortland Street is also facing a uncertain future as well, as TVNZ fund the soap through their advertising revenue. Unlike Neighbours there's also no UK broadcast partner to help with production costs, and not sure about Amazon.
