Agreed. The first few seconds remind me of a endcap from the late 70's to early 80's.

They really should've excluded the kids channel from the generic branding. They could've easily kept the old logo, and just changed the RTL part. It would've worked really well, as the old Telekids logo had the text in nine coloured boxes (the ninth one had smile in it).

I mean, a good comparison for this sort of thing is the new CBBC rebrand, while the logo is generic, it at least still has a personality in it's idents and presentation.

I don't think a generic logo ruins a look, but it's how they utilise it that does.

Three moving blocks as a pres technique. Perhaps that should be tried in the UK sometime by ITV or the BBC.

Here's a preview of what it'd look like on their Instagram (but weirdly enough not anywhere else). Seems like it'd be toying with various materials on the 1 numeral, a drizzle of celebrity faces, and a giant VRT symbol front and centre.
