GB News

Apologies, let's try again.

Not sure why he was appearing in a Parliamentary Committee yesterday, but Andrew Neill gave them his opinions about GB News. The main takeaway is that he quit because he saw it becoming the home of the 'nuttier side of politics'

It just beggars belief that he had no idea what sort of direction it was going to go in, a lot of people predicted exactly what it would be like. It's especially strange as he barely made it a few weeks on air, it didn't descend that quickly.

His ideas of the journalistic standards he'd have liked to enforce if he was in charge seem a bit old fashioned, almost three years in. He was very nieve

Which we whilst I think we knew Johnson was joining the channel, possibly in a similar capacity to John Cleese last year, I don't think they'd perviously been an indication he'd be be taking a role presenting regular GB News style programming.

Can anyone seriously think Bojo will work well as a presenter?
It will be interesting watch him take Direction and read autocue at the same time....
His fans will love him, his detractors are already lined up.

If it's live then yes you might have a point, but in the field of ex-Conservative MPs he has a lot more presenting experience than most. He's done a few documentaries in the past, nowhere near Portillo levels but a few

Pip Tomson has left GB News. Not massively surprising, given she was taken on to present a daily show 'The Live Desk' which was then axed a few months later, and her appearances have reduced significantly since.

Shame for the channel to lose a very experienced and professional journalist like Pip, though.

Of, course but we know, documentaries are very different to 'live' broadcast TV.

GB News having technical problems this afternoon as Daubney seems to have fallen off air from their Westminster studio. After the 3.30pm News Headlines there was 10 minutes of ads & promos followed by another News Update from Ray Addison in Paddington at 3.42 then more ads followed by the return of a slightly out of sync Daubney at 3.50 with the Live bug saying he was in Brussels! I suppose it's been a while since they've had such a technical issue.
