An independent regulator investigating is exactly what should happen here, and is why all the talk of British Fox News is rubbish, our media laws and lack of 1st amendment rights prevent such a thing.
However I does seem odd that so many people who would be criticising political pressure to investigate BBC News of Channel 4 seem to be fine with political pressure to investigate GB News.
Ofcom have a tricky job here: Outside of regulated news bulletins, its common for news events to be reported GMB is technically not a news show, which is why Piers could rant away and the news done with a newsreader; more obviously ITV This Morning isn't a news show, but both have carried breaking news deliverd by the (non newsreader) hosts, in ITVs case within a sponsored show, which would be prohibited by news sponsor rules. If ofcom rule adding breaking news to a show makes it a news programme, then its a whole world of trouble across TV & Commercial radio.
Most likely to be in breach would be the McVey/Hunt interview, as I can't find a reasonable argument it was done with due impartiality [for general programming] The lack of challenge to the viewpoints was stark.
