I still don't understand why everyone here and in the industry raves about GB News like it's some sort of holy writ. The truth is that it's largely, as you say, a conspiracy theory channel with a bit of token news coverage thrown in. We can bang on about it being a 'free speech channel' until the cows come home, but there's free speech and then there's conspiracy nonsense being peddled on what is ostensibly a news channel.
These people are more than free to spout their nonsense online or in the press, as they should be - but I don't think their inflammatory rhetoric should be allowed on mainstream TV. You know, people will listen to these idiots tell them not to get the booster jab, and potentially they could become seriously ill as a result. I hate it. I hate everything that channel stands for.
And it's such a shame, because it had so much potential. It could really have been a brilliant little channel, full of lively debate from all sides of politics. Someone a few pages ago suggested giving James O'Brien a show - I think that's a fantastic idea. Or someone like Owen Jones or Ash Sarkar - give one of them an hour a night to give their left-wing perspective on the news. They could even still have the right-wingers on as guests. So much potential is there for it to be a truly pluralist station, full of lively debate that EVERYONE could enjoy and learn from - but instead they chose the easy way forward. Shame on you, Angelos. Shame on you.
