GB News have a talent of ignoring things when it doesn't suit their narrative, like other broadcasters do too.

Don't know about Longhurst, but Tomson has been reporting the Covid enquiry.

Longhurst has left, Tomson been dropped down to reporting.

Have you got a source for this or is it an assumption?

Strange move by GB News if they're trying to increase the station credibility to let one experienced journalist leave though he may have had his reasons for doing so and sideline another.  Pip though was presenting with Andrew Pierce at the start of the week so it doesn't look like a full drop to mere reporting for her.  Lets hope there's no more Breaking News then between 12-3 with Daubney in the chair 😄.

She's down to present Breakfast tomorrow so she can't have been exclusively 'dropped down to reporting'.

Shame about Longhurst if he's gone. He's an experienced presenter with a good journalistic pedigree. In the nicest possible way, the GB News presenting line-up haven't got the hugest amount of these to lose, and it's certainly not going to help the credibility of the channel as a reputable news source to lose the few they have.

Watching back last Friday's edition of The Live Desk (the final one), Mark ended the programme with "Thanks for being here with us on The Live Desk on GB News, and we'll see you again some time.".

From that, I don't get the sense that they're leaving the channel, but are uncertain as to what the future holds for them as presenters. But it really is difficult to say. GBN have a track record for axing shows/presenters suddenly without making announcements.

Good that Pip is still making appearances, but must be quite deflating for her going from 5 days a week to this, especially given that she only very recently joined the channel, after leaving her reporter/newsreader role at GMB.

Is that yes to having a source or making an assumption? If the former, would be nice if you could share said source.

Given tellyhead’s previous posts about Talk TV and now GB News. I’d say he’s pretty reliable.

Weren't The Live Desk's ratings shocking and often the channel's lowest of the day? They've not been afraid to ditch shows previously.

There isn't a market for straight daytime rolling news outside of Sky and BBC - GB News are just better off dropping any pretensions of being a 'news' channel outside of the moderately successful breakfast slot and go all in on their extreme right wing commentary - which they probably would do were it commercially viable and they could sneak it past Ofcom. Note they haven't been fined for any of their breaches so far.
