I'm not sure what the viewing figures would be if they opted for a more standard news channel approach.
Also, I struggle to see how reflective these rating figures actually are these days for reasons such as: Sky News/BBC News are often broadcast in public spaces and offices, GB News is not. Then there those that view via the websites, apps on phones, apple and other smart TVs, YouTube etc. Also, Sky and BBC are viewed internationally (which yes, does play to GB News's marketing approach).
I'm just not sure how holistically relevant live TV rating actually are nowadays.
I'm not convinced that relying on errand viewing figures is necessarily the most helpful of metrics for this channel.
I'll admit to being a critic of the output and still maintain that there are elements which would embarrass a community radio station but, as a pres forum, I think it's only fair to comment on some of the more recent elements showing a degree of (design) maturity. Leave aside the crank corner like Neil Oliver and there is actually quite a nice 'flow' to the designs albeit still on the relatively simplistic level.
The new studio - although ultimately quite cheap looking - is a step in the right direction of actually having a space designed for broadcast and does offer some hope that they might be able to develop the green shoots of a good design concept.
