Gosh, I had an idea it was small, but never that tiny.

For comparison, BBC licence fee money accounts for £88.8 million of funding as of April 2022.

Worth noting that a chunck of that money used to come from government in 2010, before being gradually transferred over to the licence fee like the World Service.

Ouch - that wouldn't go very far at all.   It really was the biggest loser of the digital switchover in losing the link with C4 - as much as it was a win for viewers to have both C4 and S4C.

Broadcast reports that the recently sacked content chief of S4C is set to take legal action against the broadcaster.

Back to on-screen matters...

A soft launch for ITV Cymru Wales on ITVX - taking in not only Wales at Six, but their local non-news programmes, too.

Interesting there will be some online exclusive reports. I wonder how long this will be a thing, especially with reports from Coast & Country and Byd ar Bedwar rehashed for the 6:00 ITV 1 bulletin every week.

Back to matters off the screen sadly, and the full report that resulted in the sacking of S4C boss Sian Doyle has been published.

The full report (I think, but it's ony 17 pages long):

In the case of Y Byd ar Bedwar, that sort of thing has been going on for decades. I personally have no problem with it - if it generates decent content that can be used for Wales at Six (and Y Byd ar Bedwar tends to have a more investigative tone than Wales This Week nowadays), let it be.

Wales Today used to do the same thing when the BBC had their own equivalent, Taro Naw, but that's long disappeared.

As for the (supposedly independent) report, it does provide a lot for Doyle and Griffin-Williams to answer for, even if - as they claim - they were not given the right to respond before being shown the door.

Sorry to report the S4C row has taken quite a sad turn.

Mods - can we separate this ongoing topic into a separate thread?

No, the person's health and wellbeing is not a topic for discussion on this forum.

Many apologies - a misunderstanding on my part.

BBC Wales Today extended to one hour from 18:30 until 19:30 tonight on BBC1 Wales, because of the resignation of Mark Drakeford. The One Show moves to BBC2 Wales as a result. I wonder if ITV News Cymru Wales and S4C Newyddion will also be extended to cover his resignation?
