Leighton James died yesterday at the age of 71.
For many years, he was BBC Wales' main football pundit, usually seen on live games and in the later years of Wales on Saturday (way back when Wales used to opt out of Grandstand around 4.30pm, ahead of Final Score)
No mention in this obit of the time the Beeb suspended him for saying he hoped Barnsley would beat Cardiff City in the FA Cup (which he had also made abundantly clear earlier that week in his other commitments)
He also did some punditry for Real Radio's sports phone-ins (Real later gave way to Heart) but finally disappeared from the public limelight around the time Wales on Saturday was axed.
