... except it'll be Greatest Hits Radio Glasgow and the West by then.

I had assumed that, like many Glaswegian radio talent, he would have started his radio career with Clyde, but it seems that he's been with the BBC since the 70s. It looks like he may be an alumnus of Tony Currie's Radio Six, which older readers may remember...

Does it need to necessarily be someone famous anyway? How about someone new- Ken was new at one point- when he got the R2 gig, he was just best known for Radio Scotland- could there be a possibility we may see a regional presenter bumped up? The Beeb need to realise that they don’t need to rely on “celebrities” to front all their shows on both TV and radio, because by restricting the options to people who are already well-known, they’re effectively preventing any new talent from emerging.

I can’t imagine an effective unknown being given one of the biggest jobs on BBC Radio.

I'd have thought any 'unknown' would more likely go down the route of...
BBC Local (or Nation) Radio > Radio 2 non-weekday daytime slot > Radio 2 daytime.

That way allowing for the relative unknown to become better known to / established with the station's audience prior to being given a big weekday daytime slot.

Formerly 'Charlie Wells' of TV Forum.

Could they look go for an unknown here but popular and tested on RTE in Ireland? I think Ryan Turbidity did some cover slots once, can’t see it being him but I wonder whether there is someone who’d slot right in.

It does feel like there should be a service between Radio 1 & 2, but the answer I guess is to lower the age profile at 2.

No they don't the whole point of Radio 2 was to appeal to the over 50s... 30-55 is suppose to be left to the commercial stations. This whole rot started when its remint was altered a few years ago.

No it's audience remit is for all age groups over 35+

I had to do some digging and shocked to find this has been the case for the past 12 years at least. However that has not stopped the continues complaints from numerous people and Organisation about the BBC drive to make Radio 2 younger.

From 2009

From 2010:

From 2022

I think this has been a drive to cut costs more than anything else but they way they are going about it is going to leave alot of people out in the cold.

Sorry but what are you shocked about here? Radio 2’s remit is 35 and over.

I believed

* BBC Radio One was Remit was 16-24.
* BBC Radio Two was for Over 50s.

With people aged 25-50 given away to the commercial stations, Alot of people do think do this, hence why a good number of listens complained, doesn't mean there right it seems. .
