Beadle & Harry Hill's versions were best.

They went to a lot of effort with the Beadle version with the revolving house set.

Remember when the BBC had a go with 'Caught in the Act' - lasted one series. They were offering £250 too.

I’m surprised you thought Jonathan Wilkes had been a TV presenter as recently as 2014! Of course the reason he was famous in the first place was due to being Robbie Williams best mate.

Kirsty’s Home Videos also must have been quite popular for Sky at one time. I think I was aware of it before having Sky. Not sure if they had any official licensing agreement with the US and original Japanese versions. I’m not sure it’s really a show that needed to be licensed though but must have helped in terms of getting clips.

Kirsty's Home Videos ran for five series worth apparently, which is relatively popular for Sky. Most Sky stuff only ran for one, two or three series, so anything that ran longer than that was effectively a runaway success for them (the obvious other examples here in this period are Brainiac and Road Wars)

But yes Kirsty was a pretty much a carbon copy of You've Been Framed. Not sure how "unique" you could make a format that basically consists of people sending in clips, though it started life as a segment of a Japanese show IIRC which was later spun off.

Considering the time which it was shown, I do wonder whether Kirsty's Home Videos' success was down to Kirsty herself and her needlessly shiny jumpsuits. Then again, without looking anything up on YouTube, I do recall its presentation being a bit more "modern" than YBF.

I admit I much preferred YBF when it was studio based, but I imagine it wasn't considered cost effective by the 00s and going out of vision kept the show going a lot longer than it would have.
