First time I’ve come across this, but the BBC’s news app has a longer article by Laura K, and it’s the first time I’ve seen the bbc in-depth logo. For some reason green is now part of the colour palette. It’s great to see an in-depth article as I’ve always thought the bbc have lack in-depth pieces but the branding is just all over the place.
Why the green? Even the red isnt bbc news red. They’ve gone from a very strong brand to now a very weak one. It’s like they are literally just letting people do whatever.
I’ve also noticed on the homepage of the app this labels. I don’t know what it is but they looks so cheap. I don’t understand why you’d have a red gradient with a red box on top. Then others don’t have the gradient. Either gradient and white box on all or just the red box.
It still can’t get used to this new app. It just feels so much more clunky to use and there is so much more scrolling required to find what you want.

It’s the same theme as the BBC Verify which is blue.

Looks like they have started to lock certain parts of the BBC News website behind a BBC account. I'm now unable to access the tech and culture sections without logging in, bizarre decision if you ask me.

Just reading the in-depth article on the news app about cloud seeding and notice that instead of the tweets being links to the original tweet they are images.
They’re being used to provide exmaples of the tweets being shared which are spreading misinformation which I’m guessing is why they have the red bar and warning sign. Is this the first time they’ve done this?
Bit nit picking slightly, it would better if in that huge wasted area of lighter red had “misinformation” or “not factually accurate” in it. That way they could use the warning triangle for other things such a bad language or distressing image.

It does also make the actual image rather small.
Would look better if there was a red box underneath it saying "Not factually accurate".
I wonder if this drive to combat misinformation has led to discussions being had about the language being used by the BBC.
I remember an old video where George Alagiah says the BBC don't like using emotive language such as 'liar', instead opting to say they 'weren't telling the truth'.
The word 'mis-' or 'disinformation' is quite loaded if you think about it this way. To use 'fake news' is off the scale.
I think to describe something as 'not factually accurate' is probably the most impartial and BBC-like way to describe it.
How do they normally describe these things?
... I could be on the new News Channel with all my pontifications...
