Gary Lineker/BBC Asylum Controversy

Could this bring down the BBC? I’m not so sure to be honest. It’s turning out to be a major schism

It seems that the BBC didn't have a plan for what they were going to do

Once this all dies down I'd love to see her present it one week, Iit would be amazing, I'd watch it for once  Big Grin

This is going to backfire massively isn't it? Putting out the kind of programme that many viewers wish MOTD was - getting on with the highlights without studio pundit waffle

A full fat breaking news push notification has just been sent out by BBC News confirming the format of tomorrow’s MOTD. Yes really.

Maybe it will have to be done by AI or a text to speech bot.

So it seems pretty clear that Gary’s contract doesn’t limit social media use or restrict it any way. That means he’s not bound by anything the BBC says about it.

So the standoff is clearly about them wishing to have him sign an addendum to cover social media and he’s refusing to do so and rightly so.

What no doubt complicates matters is that the agreement is likely between the BBC and his limited company which means the BBC has no influence on him full stop. He is simply the “individual” provided by his company to provide services to the BBC.

Can we stop with this hyperbole? The BBC won't be shut down because of Gary Lineker

No presenters or pundits will feature on Saturday's Match of the Day programme, a BBC spokesperson says.

Saturday's Match of the Day programme will "focus on match action without studio presentation or punditry", they say.
