To a UK viewer, nothing visual has changed - the same presenter carries on, the graphics, music and branding remain the same, but we now have a complete change in focus that isn’t acknowledged. We here know why, but your average viewer must find it confusing how the agenda suddenly flips.
I generally support the idea behind the changes, but they seem to have skipped the stage in the planning where they consider what they need to do to serve both audiences seamlessly.
Exactly this. I don't know why they can't label the bulletins that are both World and UK as either "World" or "International" in the bottom right corner, a bit like they do with shows like "The Context".
I actually quite like having a more international outlook to stories on the News Channel. It separates it from the major UK bulletins and provides a greater breadth of coverage when taken as a whole. I don't know why they want to keep it a secret.
Unlikely to happen anytime soon but I would also move the channel back to the News 24 brand to separate it from regular BBC News output and reflect its international, and now properly 24 hour, focus. In fact it's something the original News 24 flag pres would fit well with.
