Katty was introduced being credited as "US Special Correspondent for BBC Studios & Host of Influential with Katty Kay", so I suspect we will continue to see more of her for big occasions.
A bit of an odd arrangement, commercially, though. Presumably BBC News pay out of their budget to BBC Studios for the services of their employee, and BBC Studios then pay Katty directly. So, technically, Katty isn’t part of BBC News even though she appears as a quasi-presenter.
If she was to present a programme that would have to be a paid for appearance but simply appearing as a panelist (in a place that would typically be filled by a non-BBC voice) is surely more along the lines of an external contributor than a BBC employee.
