Competing forums for the same niche that has already had two forums come and go is not a good idea imo. Especially at a time when forums in general are dying with the immediacy of Discords etc.

I'll be honest, I don't consider them to be competing forums. Pres Cafe is part of Clean Feed, and they are doing their own things. And TVTF have stated themselves that they don't consider it competition, because they're doing their own stuff, and Pres Cafe will do theirs. Either way, both are fine as is.

It feels a little cold. Perhaps that'll change as the boards fill out - a huge amount of empty threads doesn't help I feel.

I also fully respect that you've chosen to not use your real/normal identities but maybe you could consider coming up with something a little less distant and formal than simply 'admin', 'mod 1' etc. Just the name of a broadcaster or something, anything so when you're referred to on the board your members can do so without the formality of effectively a job title.

Being a new forum, it's going to look rather empty at the start.

Re Admin/Moderator identities.  The generic titles are deliberate, to avoid the type of personal abuse that typically occurs in these environments.  However, we're taking your suggestion on board and will make some changes soon.

Is there any chance of a multi view type page? I always find that easiest to just have an overall look at what’s new?

I also think you should have let the users create some more of the threads. I feel that helps build a community if the users add the threads to the forum.

We certainly aren't stopping you from creating new threads and we actively encourage it where a current thread isn't appropriate.

As occurred during the BBC branding refresh, a selection of threads have been created as a way to help with navigation. However, where the discussion warrants it, by all means create a new thread for it!

Out of pure interest, why has the decision been taken not to include a gallery or requests section? I’ll miss those two forums, but completely understand if it’s too technically difficult/you just don’t want to add those aspects.

They don't have to add a gallery or requests section if they don't want to. It's their forum, they don't have to copy what TVF or TVLF did.

I'm quite happy to be here without those forums.

Emptiness is a factor. I think just lack of personality is the actual issue.

Needs to be more to set the user's expectation in terms of what to expect. I appreciate this takes time to get right and you have had very little of that.
