Talk TV

Of course, none of this really matters. It’s all just Piers making it looking like he’s leaving on his own terms when he was clearly pushed. Final nail in the coffin, etc etc.

I don’t really understand any of the recent arguments here. How is shutting down the tv channel and ending Piers’ show - both of which rate terribly - but keeping them on YouTube - which has many times more viewers - not a sensible way of moving forward? Their audience isn’t on TV. TV isn’t the only way things can be consumed.

TalkTV is dead, TalkRadio is returning but just named 'Talk' going forward. It'll be back in the radio studio. Piers won't last past the end of the year, it doesn't make enough to cover the costs.

I noticed during James Whale Unleashed tonight, that they were using a new backdrop - not of the usual London skyline, but more of a generic city look with an overall blue-purple colour. It also had animated edges of the Talk circle rotating around in the periphery.

It's an altered version of the 'late night' look used during shows like Plank, Woke, etc.

The screens in the main TV studio keep flickering from the Talk Today view to the night view of London.

Emily Rose Adams has announced she's leaving at the end of the month, so I'm assuming news will be from the existing radio newsreaders from May.

Thought I’d check in on what Piers Morgan Uncensored is doing now it’s on YouTube. A bit of a mixed bag of figures - some episodes reaching a million viewers, some below a hundred thousand.

Presentationally it still looks like the Talk TV show, and in the same studio. Format is just the opposing sides arguing thing he’s become famous for, everything else has been stripped away. Timings look to be flexible.

Makes you wonder why they don’t still at least do a highlights show for Talk TV, but I suppose it’s already where the viewers are so it probably wouldn’t add much more.

I was surprised to see there’s a show going out pretty much every day. I’ve seen very little promotion or discussion of it.

It’s a bit strange, the YouTube channel is like clips, highlights and extended interviews from a show that doesn’t exist anymore. There is no format. It makes you wonder why they didn’t keep it on TV & Radio as the channel was essentially doing the same thing as it is now.

If that’s the case, they’ll have to bring in someone else of a morning as the three existing journalists (on talkSPORT and Times Radio respectively) are tied up with other commitments - Virgin Radio are also about to lose their newsreader with the talkSPORT reader assuming their duties.

It just looks like both sides are seeing out the contract which I believe ends at the end of 2024.
