Channel 4 Pres: 2023 - Present

Yes Netflix have chosen just show the same brief bumper before each show. But why not a 10 second ident that varies? It doesn’t have to be exclusive to just linear TV.

All4 did have these a few years back:

They've now introduced continuity on Channel 4 (streaming) idents promoting other content which TBH is quite annoying - although if it was a bit more than a voice over and subtitles over a generic ident it might work better.

Don't think I'll be able to do that with any of the new idents sadly.

Ah, but you can - four are in or around Glasgow (though you probably can't wander into the school) - I posted the locations a few pages back.

The film, which is called 'The Island Life', is also available to stream on Channel 4 (the streaming service).

Did they play the full thing or just the last 50 seconds? I was rather hoping the spoken word piece didn't accompany it every time...

They did play the full film. This is just what I was able to get from TV Home.

Just a shame the debut was slightly tainted by that rather silly wording from the CA - I'm watching Channel 4, and I can stream that film whenever I like on Channel 4?

Is it really too much to call it "the Channel 4 app" or simply "online"?

Anyway, now that's off my chest, let's see what happens at 8pm!

Well, I meant I doubt I'll have been to any of the places where the new idents have been filmed, not that Ii couldn't go there!

I do agree - I think there’s a lot more fun that can be had with streaming identities in general to make them have more of a personality, the big dogs like Netflix and Prime especially feel like a sterile experience.

The idents are Magnificat, and put certain other broadcasters to shame, cough.. BBC One.. Of course when make BBC 2 and Ch4 so good? They all have decent focal point/ logo.

So as perhaps expected just a cut of 3-4 idents for a regular ident. All ambient noise too but better than others in that regard - I think they'll get away with it. Hopefully the morning holding graphics become the idents on a loop rather than menus all the time.

Now the idents have debuted some of the graphic elements do seem like they could do with just finessing a bit more - just things like having the menu close with the C4 logo too as well as open with it.

Good luck trying to name these.

First ident: www.tvhome.co.uk

Wondering if the audio is a bit lonely without any music, other than that - absolutely lovely.
