I went onto the Nick Jr UK website recently, same basic design as the Nickelodeon site, but two links for a TV schedule and competitions page. The schedule doesn't even work and the competitions link is dead.

TV show websites in general have pretty much vanished completely over the last decade - the channel website is usually just the on demand content now and perhaps a link to the socials - and if they have any more it's usually very generic.

In Paramount's case, they're mainly redirecting folk to Paramount+ in particular as their home for their content. Anything else can be handled through social media for the most part as the need for them has dropped a lot, even with kids content.

The issue with the social media part, children aren't allowed a social media account (i.e. Twitter/'X', Facebook, TikTok, Instagram etc.) until at least 13 years old (with permission from parents or guardian).

Related to earlier Turtle discussion I notice from the fire Stick home page and the Freevee app that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (the 1990 film) is 2nd most popular film on that particular service, and the follow up film isn't far behind.

Whether this was because of the Nickelodeon news or they just happened to land on Freevee at the same time, seems a bit of a co-incidence?

Not sure if its the original theatre version, though it probably is (it was edited in the UK as per previous discussion, but all those edits were waived years later).

Nickelodeon in general have slimmed down their international operations, that's including the websites, only a few countries such as the UK, France, and Germany etc. actually have their own version of Nick, and Nick Australia is about to make the move to FTA too. Most of the Nicks are shared, with countries either having the "Global" version, no adverts with dubbing in a local language, or "Commercial Light", which allows a bit more localisation and advertising or "Comm Full" for full ad breaks.

Also the Italian version is actually autonomous, while France that you've mentioned, isn't anymore (only Nick Jr France is).

Nickelodeon Italy is still licensed by AGCOM (our local OFCOM), and differs quite a bit, even though it appears to be controlled by your usual Dutch team.

In general, all the Paramount operations in EMEA have lost a local team, except for UK and until some time Russia.

That ninja censorship stopped being a real problem before TMHT's original run finished. Power Rangers had no problem mentioning Ninjas in 1995, the year before Turtles finished.

Although interestingly the 1997-1998 (US dates - the UK airings were possibly 98-99) live-action Turtles show (also made by Saban, the same as PR) was originally titled "Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation", but like what happened with the cartoon in the UK, was re-titled as "Hero Turtles: The Next Mutation", complete with an re-worded opening theme song, logo and other on-screen text to replace the many "ninja" mentions.

A little strange since that was long after the "ninja" sensitivity had died down.
As a side-note, that same live-action Turtles show had a crossover with 'Power Rangers in Space' at the time in 1998. When they aired it in the UK (was very likely to be 1999) they edited out the "ninja" part of their name there too. I'm guessing for consistency. Well, kinda. They literally just chopped out that part of the audio instead of replacing it with "hero".

Given that it was only one year after the cartoon ended, they almost certainly did that for consistency... never mind that the three movies out by that point had kept the Ninja Turtles name! There's a website that lists UK episode cuts, but it doesn't mention anything for that crossover, Shell Shocked. www.parkproductions.co.uk
