If his contract was up in a few months, I wonder if by agreeing to go early he was able to get a bit of a pay off, rather than waiting to not have it renewed and receiving nothing.

One would imagine that DoI and his new primetime show will have helped smooth things over, similar to when Aled Jones got given his Weekend show after Daybreak had been axed to make way for GMB

I think it’s very unlikely he’ll be presenting Dancing on Ice, especially alongside Holly. I don’t think the new primetime will materialised either  unless it’s already been made.
