Not to mention Popmaster isn't exactly established on TV as Countdown is (which can get away with having a primetime version having been in daytime for ages- that is 8 out of 10 Cats), and seemed to be created to practically capitalise on the Greatest Hits Radio publicity (hence why Ian Katz wanted to give it the big slot).
If they had aired it in daytime to start with like Countdown started with, it may have started to get an audience.
Also, 12 Yard/ITV produce the show, but don't have as much control as The Hit List producers do, due to not owning the format.
