Wimbledon 2023

It also seems they will try and have the live pundit bit with Clare on One instead if there’s time - tonight they had 20 mins with Annabelle Croft analysing things like they would have done in the past at 8.30 on BBC Two in the past. So it still works.

And even if they have play late in the evening, there’s always going to be the 15 mins or so break during the roof being closed to do some of that live stuff with McEnroe etc, so I agree the right call.

The Eurosport highlights now have the same presentation format as the Today at Wimbledon, with Barbara Schett hosting pre-recorded segments of analysis alongside Mats Wilander and/or Laura Robson. As ever, a different take on the actual highlights, with 20+ minutes dedicated to a few matches over 90 minutes minutes ads.

An Easter egg in the URL with the use of the long departed British Eurosport name

PS 'Babs in the Alleys' just about makes sense at Roland Garros (the alleys being a comonly used name for the walkways around the grounds), it makes no sense at Wimbledon.

They kept advertising it during a promo.

Are you trying to find it on web iplayer or an actual smart tv? Because UHD is not on the web iplayer.

The World Feed titles actually come with the words “World Feed” plastered below the Wimbledon logo, which I wouldn’t have thought would have been the version actually aired (they’d mean nothing to casual viewers). Not sure who the presenter is, she didn’t introduce herself and only appears out of vision.

Clare Balding is on (Voice only) now at 14.50 so doing a six/seven hour shift.

In the studio now - suspect it's match rather than time dependent and she's in for the Murray match. Must say though a seemless replacement for Sue although think that call was made back in 2015 or so when she replaced John Incerdale. And Clare points out herself she's been working in some capacity on BBC Wimbledon coverage since 1995.

Main desk looks a bit bland though with just a white logo on frosted glass. Probably taken me a few years to notice they ditched the tennis ball desk.

Perfect timing from Murray to finish his first match in time for the news.

And it allows BBC 2 to stick with the Cameron Norrie match when the BBC 1 coverage pauses.

One thing that irritates me is the 7pm changeover from 2 to 1. I really hoped they would have seen this didn’t work last year and fixed it.

They need an overlap so the BBC1 programme can have a proper intro; 2 has a proper close and no play is missed. Today the programme on 1 started after the programme on 2 ended. Clare did an intro on 1 and therefore a lot of play in the featured game was missed. It’s pretty poor.

Start The One Show at 7.10 for the fortnight.

Missed a potentially crucial break of serve in the Norrie match tonight - one trailer less and no studio intro would have avoided that.
