If they continue to opt-out of Breakfast at 9am, then it would make sense for the last regional news update to be moved to just before 9am. This would then give the News Channel a way to opt-out smoothly, and ensures they're not having to interrupt any interviews to play a sting.
If they decide to continue showing Breakfast until 9.30am then it does raise questions over the future of the 5Live simulcast. In theory they could opt to simulcast Nicky Campbell from 10-11am, though I don't think that would benefit either 5Live listeners or News Channel viewers. In theory, the News Channel could opt to put a pre-recorded programme in the 9.30-10am slot on the global feed, similar to pre-merger. That would then allow them to have news coverage on the UK feed, which could count towards the UK opt-out/hours quota.
