I’d have thought it more coincides with the BBC axing Doctors, and potentially looking to move one of the morning daytime shows to after the News at One to fill the schedule without raising the budget.
Adding an extra 15 minutes to Breakfast potentially just means dragging out a few segments/interviews and some extra headlines - in other words, potentially no more ‘production’ needed.
