A few of the earlier ITV stations were named after their parent companies or came about as the merger of other companies.
ATV born out of Lew Grade's company after it was merged with the ITC, and Rediffusion was partly owned by a newspaper group. ABC was of course a chain of cinemas.
Westward was a relatively odd name I felt, though I can see why they went with it.
