It would seem the shambles over the audience tickets is going to overshadow this come back. How could a mess like this even happen?

Christ almighty. I feel tense just looking at that photos, so I dread to think how the people there felt.
Does anyone know how long an episode took to shoot during the original run? Three hours sounds ridiculous for one event but I know the original show was so well put together it was easy to think it was live, despite it being physically impossible to swap out all of the equipment for each event.

I had tickets for Saturday but no way am I going to bother now, also someone who did get in has reported 3 hours later and they've managed to get through just one game so far, according to the tickets the entire recording was planned to be done within 5 hours!

It was probably worked out on same basis of how many people who do and don’t turn up for other shows. But perhaps a Gladiators audience is not like other shows and people see it as more of an event.
Perhaps they’ll be moving it to a bigger arena for any possible future series and they could even charge for tickets. Did the original charge for tickets?
Anyway the set looks good and has the same feel as the original.

I guess the problem with charging for tickets even in the sense of a deposit you'll get refunded if you turn up is then a lot of people won't bother applying in the first place
Sending out say 3,300 tickets for a 3,000 capacity fair enough, but 10,000+ tickets something has gone wrong in the matrix!

With these ticketing services, there's always the danger of not getting in because they oversubscribe, always have a back up plan for certain shows like Graham Norton, Last Leg etc even something like Loose Women although those are filmed at Television Centre so missing out isn't so bad because Westfield is only across the road.

Maybe its just the image playing tricks on me, but doesn't that seem like an awfully small arena to have something like the Eliminator [the end of show game to see who goes through to the next round] running? I remember the original filling the majority of the available space in the arena they used at Birmingham, so I wonder if they aren't going to have the Eliminator in this revival?
I do think that if there is a second series, they need a proper 10,000 audience arena, to avoid the situation with the ticketing recurring again. I'm not even sure why they didn't just go back to the OG venue from before, now the Utilita Arena, unless they simply didn't have the venue available when they attempted to book it. It would have made more sense to go back to their roots really.

Sheffiled might be cheaper?
Didn't the original though have most the games set up throughout the episode - this looks like a blank floor so if they're setting up each round as they film them then the recording are going to be very lengthy.

I'm not sure they did, except for The Wall.

Cheapness is probably the reason, or maybe they didn't want to go for something too big, get little audience members and lose money from the production.
I grabbed two shots from a Series 2 episode that was on YouTube, and it appears it was one game in the playing arena at a time, but presumably if one of the games was the Wall, another game would have been set up on the main floor itself. Images below
