Gladiators adds another 2 million after +7 days.

There seems to be surprise elsewhere about how well Gladiators has performed, mostly because it's a reboot of an old format. I think when you look at Saturday night TV in the last twenty years, there have been too many shows that have been just one thing, quiz shows where they stall for time and you wish they would just get on with it, whereas Gladiators is a lot of things, goes in fast and the Eliminator is a proper, exciting climax that doesn't simply repeat an earlier round.
In the 90s there was more experimentation and variety in gameshows and maybe bigger budgets helped play a part in that but perhaps it could still be the case if so much money wasn't allocated to fancy sets, prize money etc.
