Currently CNN anchor Anderson Cooper is one of the teams of journalists for the #1 reputable long running and highly respected investigative news magazines on US television CBS 60 Minutes. Well CNN is gonna try again. This time with Cooper at the helm. Its called THE WHOLE STORY with ANDERSON COOPER.
So Eastern time zone is going to have 60 Minutes at 7pm, with regular contributions from Cooper, and immiediately after that they can switch to a CNN's rendition of the same format - anchored again by Cooper! (IIRC, CBS 60 Minutes is not done live, so it is possible for The Whole Story to be anchored live.)

It, as well as Abby Phillip's move to 11AM, reduces Sunday's Newsroom (or whatever it will be called) output to just 5 hours - from 2pm to 7pm.

Also if one suggests that The Whole Story launch will coincide with the rest of the CNN revamp, this gives 10--17 April as its likely dates.

UPD. Actually CNN announced it itself in a press-release, revealing first several themes of the show:
Quote:What Happened to San Francisco? – Anchor Sara Sidner travels to San Francisco, a metropolis that came alive during the technological revolution, to uncover the political and social issues plaguing the city by the bay.

Baby Powder Fears – Chief Investigative Correspondent and Anchor Pamela Brown examines claims made by some of the thousands of women who say that Johnson & Johnson’s now-discontinued talc baby powder is responsible for their cancer.

Magic Mushrooms – Used for centuries in ceremonies by traditional cultures, banned in the US for nearly 50 years, and now being re-examined after Oregon just legalized it, Correspondent David Culver surveys the world of psylocibin, taking viewers through the myths, the medicine, and the money surrounding the psychedelic plant.

Charles & Camilla – CNN Anchor and National Correspondent Erica Hill goes behind the scenes of the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla.

A Migrant’s JourneyNick Paton Walsh, Chief International Security Correspondent, embeds with a group of migrants on their arduous journey on foot through the Darien Gap, from South to Central America, on their way to seek asylum in the United States.

Also no mention of CNN International there, like "on CNN and CNN International". Might be just an omission in wording, might be a sign of some pre-record appearing instead on CNNI (currently, if 8pm is live, CNNI carries it.)

I really can't see The Whole Story anchored live. Cooper will pre-record links and any interviews that need doing with the featured journalist.

It sounds like they went more with the old Datline NBC or 20/20 model where they were newsmagazines , before they became true crime filler shows for the networks, they had an anchor or co-anchors and featured different stories versus going for the 60 minutes format of having different reporters/anchors introduce their story. I think it's pretty nice that CNN is going for this idea, do worry about the Sunday night slot since 60 minutes is on too.

Stranger still, there's a small possibility Anderson could be on both channels at the same time -- during the NFL season, in the event a late-afternoon game runs long, CBS delays the start of their primetime lineup until after the game is over (rather than preempting parts of the schedule as Fox does with its coverage). Thus, the entire Sunday schedule, including 60 Minutes, gets pushed back by however many minutes of overrun there were (and otherwise airs in pattern). Just this past season I think there was a game with about 45 minutes of overrun, thus 60 Minutes started at 7:46, then the first drama of the night at 8:46, and so on. In a scenario like that, if Anderson's contributing a little later in the running order of 60 Minutes, after the 8pm ET start time of his CNN program, he might just be in two TV places at once.

Just one small thing that differentiates The Whole Story from 60 Minutes is apparently the the CNN programme will be in singular topic rather than the 2-3 long-form pieces on 60 Minutes. Hopefully they can pull it off. 60 Minutes it known for its months long or even years long investigative stories. They also do pop culture stories about famous celebrities but in a serious fashion rather than the vapid Entertainment Tonight-style interviews. Im not getting the indepth investigation vibe from the CNN programme. Having said that CNN does need its own "Panorama-esque" programme. So lets if they can create appointment television like 60 Minutes.

Victor Blackwell is already in his new permanent slot today, so no off-air time (apart from five previous weekdays).

Apparently CNN execs just decided to do everything gradually, and launch one-set This Morning Weekends earlier than weekday revamp.

Is that a new set? Looks like the same old thing they've used for decades.

Waiting for a wide/desk shot to verify.

EDIT: that's definitely not a new set. We won't see a new set in Atlanta until the move to Techwood.

Victor and Amara have had to move to flash studios in the 7am hour due to air conditioning issues, it was apparently 80F in that studio.

That poor studio can't take more than one person in it.

Did Amara anchor with Victor before? I mean did she joined before he left? Anyway, she'll make a much better team with him than with the NY bound bland Boris.

At 8am Amara and Victor are back in the same studio, as the air conditioning got fixed during the 7am hour.

Also they updated the names on the program titles.
