I don't love the new graphics, but they've grown on me. They should just keep them for now and change to something else once they name a new president, who will want his or her own new graphics anyway.
Currently, you have this graphics along the GO THERE campaign with the flat look, and the website, not to mention that there is not guidelines in case of show branding (apart from TSR and the CNNI shows)
Back in 2014, you have that campaign launched, then the website, then the 2014 straps with Gotham. That kind of standardization happened because the then-New CEO had one of the few good ideas for the Network: A coordinated look across all their platforms.
That didn't lasted long, but they at least had a process to follow
This new graphics were, in a way, a correction of the mistakes committed in the Orange Ages, but there wasn't a coordination with the rest. It would be stupid, though, to revert to the old look since the new are not bad overall...
But I guess Zazlav and John Malone are just making this as an example and a symbol of how "bad" was the Licht regime, but without admitting that the problem is just the continuation of the problems CNN had even before the Zucker mess
