Same situation with Early Start this morning with Amara Walker in a flash studio in Atlanta.
CNN This Morning are still in 21L.

I will say this looks intentional. The background isn’t just the stitched city graphic, it includes the bookshelf. I guess we’ll see what happens with the NY studios tomorrow to really start speculating on if we’re getting a new set, why they’re renovating the town hall studio rather than the mothballed brick studio, or if it was a false alarm and it’s back to normal tomorrow.
And we have it again today - CNN This Morning coming the smaller part of 21L, and Early Start from a flash set. The only difference was that the latter was anchored by Amara Walker, so the flash set appeared to be in Atlanta.
Either they have problems with 19X / refitting it, or they thought that the set is unsuitable for Trump coverage
(may be they did not like the decorative stuff there? Or they avoided rounded desk for Trump coverage, because they wanted all of the panel to face camera at the same time, and thus a long arc-shaped desk?)

Laura Coates and Wolf hosted CNN Primetime/Tonight from the big DC desk. Nice seeing dual anchored programs in the evenings.

They do have an almost identical large curved desk that is wheeled out in Hudson Yards and is far more suitable for hosting panels that the small one currently being used in 21L.
Here it is in 19Z.

Amara Walker was a great choice for Early Start today. I know CNN has a lot of underused talent, but I hope she's utilized more. (I'm still wishing for a Holmes Walker reunion...)
They must be doing some work in 19X then. What's strange is that 17N and 19Y are both currently mothballed so if CNN were building a new set, it would make sense to dismantle the New Day set, not the CNN This Morning one (the Newsroom floor no longer belongs to CNN). 19Z needs to be in News Central mode, so it wouldn't have made sense to use that studio. Points to it being minor work, not a major change. Wonder what we'll see Monday morning.
In other news CNN Center continues clear out. A lot of newsroom based staffers moving over the next few weeks per Twitter and Instagram posts. Hopefully we'll see something from the Techwood side soon.

I miss her. Lots of great people have left CNN in the past decade.

Newsroom with Fredricka Whitfield started occasionally doing headlines and even having custom graphics for them, in the mid-to-late 2010s style
