CNN MAX will be testing news alerts on the MAX streaming platform . So if you watching something else on Max an alert will pop-up that breaking news is happening. I would imagine there will defo be an opt-out. Kinda wish Roku had something like if you are watching anything. on the device. As you dont really get emergency storm warning as you would on regular television. This sounds interesting.

Could they be readying a new look for Kasie Hunt's debut.
Omar closed out the week from a Flash Studio at CNN Center. He also filled in for Victor on CTM today.

Alex Marquardt has been promoted to Chief National Security Correspondent replacing Jim Sciutto in that role.

Hadn't picked up on it and didn't realise that it was happening today because of a lack of promotion but CNN did not run News Central and replaced it with special coverage of the first televised court session of the Trump Georgia indictment.
I haven't seen much of the presentation because International did not opt-out of Amanpour to show the court session and most the coverage has not been uploaded to archive.org yet (Probably will overnight) but from the bits I have seen and the transcripts uploaded it was Wolf Blitzer presenting from Washington and Kaitlin Collins from New York.

Wolf was at the desk used for News Central and SOTU and Kaitlin Collins was anchoring from Hudson Yards. Didn't catch which studio she was in as the court coverage started pretty much on time.

How awful and rude is this? People watch movies, especially classic movies, to escape current news, drama and divisive culture. Invading that space with cheap CNN promo is totally disrespectful.

"cheap" promo? Interesting.
It seems, according, to an update tweet from MAX PR its not what we are imagining it will be and likely an opt out will be available.

Indiewire ran a story walking this back a bit

A pre-show ad for something on CNN or a news bar on the homepage wouldn’t be a bad idea. But you’re right, unless I’m in imminent danger, it would be unwelcome.
It’s not an unfounded idea, most local stations run severe weather alerts over network primetime shows.

Actually in the age of digital streaming these days and with fewer and fewer people watching Broadcast and Cable television it seems that there will MUST be a means to alert people to danger. Particularly when it comes to severe weather. I would imagine the streaming manufacturers MUST be mandated to create a means to add pop up alerts for TORNADO/ SEVERE THUNDERSTORM Warnings when people are watching films and movies. Unfortunately with more and more people streaming a dangerous situation is developing that didnt exists in the age of cable and broadcast tv.

But will it be limited to weather? It says breaking news and alerts and every time Trump breaks wind, CNN make it breaking news! Weather I get but for the rest, let people rely on their phones.
