Good decision to slash those totally unrealistic, outrageously high salaries. Most of these ''star'' anchors can't equal what they earn and ratings/ revenue they bring to the network so it's about time some balance was achieved there.
Also, they could get rid some of the many talking heads they have on, I mean all of these people that pop up for political coverage. Stick to a your reporters and actual reporting.
CNN could become more like the BBC with regular news bulletins every hour, keeping the primetime hours as more anchor driven. That wouldn't be a bad thing.

On average there CNN are utilizing 14 US anchors per weekday - that's an insane amount of money and it's no wonder Thomspon is looking to Anchor costs to save money. His problem is, and as highlighted in the piece posted above, getting rid of anyone with clout would seal the deal for MSNBC and CNN could wave a fond farewell to ever getting a foot hold on ratings in the US.
