The cascading effects thanks to CNN Domestic's new morning schedule and Mark Thompson's unified news operation begin.
CNN Newsroom with Max Foster disappearing from the schedule is concerning in part due to the all hands meeting mentioned previously. Should we be concerned for Max and Bianca's hour? It's possible CNN are planning a flip of the London/Atlanta European Morning output to better streamline support for the Atlanta overnight and morning hours. Still, without the 30 minute bulletin will CNN News Central broadcast as a 30 minute simulcast at 7am ET (13:00 CET) or is something else in the works?
World Sport moving to 7:30am ET (13:30 CET) brings us back to the 2014-2019 schedule. Considering Max's show is missing from the schedule, will Amanda Davies still anchor or will the show shift to Atlanta with Andy Scholes and Coy Wire taking the reins? Will World Sport air on CNN Max?
CNN Newsroom with Fredricka Whitfield (or Amara Walker depending on the day) is referred to on-air as "CNN on Max" more than it is "CNN Newsroom". I wonder if this will feel like an international show come Wednesday. Even as a "Max simulcast", this would be the first weekday daytime Atlanta show since I-Desk was cancelled in 2019.
State of the Race was effectively a CNN Max show masquerading as an International show. Happy to see it removed from the schedule. Since Rahel Solomon usually anchors 10-11am ET (16:00 -17:00 CET), will she now anchor a two hour block or this a shift to make room for something else on Max, say a Connect the World simulcast? Rahel will now go back to back with One World, which is the perfect opportunity to get them into a proper studio.
Many questions whose answers will reveal themselves over the coming weeks.
As for the timing, Monday is President's Day in the US. Wednesday is effectively Tuesday, which gives you the first day of the workweek to get your ducks in a row before implementing changes.
