The studio at CNN Turner Techwood is long and narrow. And it strangely has yellow accents instead of CNN red. And its very simple. And some wonder why they use white. Its because the look of the walls (or hard sections) can be change with lighting. Victor Blackwoods programme started after the break they changed the video walls and flipped on some blue lights and it looked a bit different. So studio turnaround is very quick and cheap and easy. The corner screen is used for weather and stand-ups. I imagine its a touch screen. Why they didnt have one of those micro DTL studios dress up as a weather studio is odd. They had one as CNN Center. Maybe thats coming. Not holding my breath.

I suspected the studio was going to be small and its very very small. There is a soft area and the main desk. Its all crammed down into the corner. Its lit very well. But there isnt much too it. I knew they weren't going to make huge investment in the TurnerTechwood studio. So i lowered my expectations. And it wasnt disappointed. Because what I imagined is what Im seeing. Something very simple and adaptable. Oh well.

Wow, there are some serious Studio 7 vibes in that second photo!

We've yet to see the other part of it in action, though - may be that is where Fredricka Whitfield's hours will come from? Although sofa is usually more associated with mornings...

Maybe CNN This Morning moves to the sofa next week when Amara comes back? Can’t imagine it’s for the overnight hours, and it’s too central to be an on-air green room.

Edit: Nevermind, Victor’s on the sofa.

I suspect not much else will be built at Turner Techwood. I image because the channels arent cash cows anymore and Mark Thompson is restructuring to make them profitable... most programmes that arent double headed will be from a FlashCam studios. They will probably use the big main studio for a while to show it off. But soon there after especially CNNi programmes will probably come from DTLs. They are just cheap and quick to use. So this is probably all that will be built there.

Yep, he is using it to talk to the guests on some lighter themes.

Then, one might ask, why isn't CNNI using the studio now and has to wait another month? What is left to do for CNNI that doesn't need to be done for CNN Domestic? Connecting the studio to CNNI control room?

I like the yellow everywhere. Also the sofa area is nice and the studio looks great from that perspective. I wish the main desk was there instead of being cramped up in that corner.

Omar is in for Fred so we don’t get to see the studio during Newsroom.

No Amara, no Fred…some launch day!

Bigger than studio 4 at least! But sad that there’s only one main CNN studio at Techwood… and a couple flashes.

I say one main CNN studio, because there are multiple big studios there for other networks like TNT, TBS, NBA TV and whatever other sports stuff they do there.

CNN Center had what, 4 studios? At least. And then multiple flashes.

It makes sense to stagger the launch of the new studio. Just like the move to Techwood itself was staggered and so was starting to use the Techwood control rooms, etc etc.

Is the new studio in Atlanta defective again? CTM didn't come today with Victor Blackwell and Amara Walker. Instead, Danny Freeman and Jessica Dean sent from flash Sets in New York (?) und Washington. The weather came from Atlanta, but from the old Weather Center-Set, if I saw it correctly.

Jessica Dean is in New York this weekend. Omar Jimenez and Danny Freeman are normally in New York.

Weather updates are from a green screen virtual studio that looks like the old weather center set. This was used a few years ago, but hasn’t been seen as much recently.

Lots of fill-in anchors this weekend and an open weekend role that needs to be filled. I won’t connect those dots just yet…
