Perhaps best to post this here: The Beeb is starting to integrate generative AI in news research and production, archives and "personalized expriences" (possibly site clicks tracking/algorithm side of things?) in coming months. Yet, they're not allowing AI models to scrape their websites.

Whilst Generative AI has all sorts of issues - where I think the BBC view is reasonable
the BBC like all of us have been using technology which seems to have been swept up into the "AI" bucket!
e.g Speech to text - used over 30 years ago ....in subtitling
but thanks to AI/Kaldi the entire Archive has transcripts which can be searched
