ITV1 isn't jam-packed with new shows all the time but you can't really blame them when Tipping Point repeats outrate new stuff like Jeopardy and presumably Riddiculous (which never seems to have its figures published). In primetime, the soaps provide a steady returning audience throughout the week and although repeats of Millionaire aren't ideal I doubt a new episode would rate much better as the brand isn't as strong as it once was. 8pm shows of any type are difficult to get right and increasingly they are promoted to 9pm for the lack of options there. Also, you can't have the usual dramas with folk getting stabbed etc before the watershed.
As for Channel 4 daytime, I'm not sure them trying to compete is a good idea. Any new shows would fail and ultimately be a waste of money. Post Countdown could be looked at though.
