Looking at Challenge's schedule on digiguide, two episodes from Series 2 are scheduled as being 30 minutes instead of 60 (episode 2 and 9).

Despite this, it's refreshing to see the original series being reshown, where the jeopardy and tension are palpable.

Things of note that differ to latter series:-
- The perspex box of cash on display
- The use of a cordless phone for Phone a Friend, at least for the 1st episode
- Longer music beds for walking on with the contestant
- The lighting - use of red and purple quite evident on the audience and darker lighting elsewhere
- Closer tighter shots on the contestants
- Fastest Finger consisted of one correct answer rather than four in the correct order
- No music bed during the first five questions, at least in episode 2.

There may be more differences. The credits were recreated to avoid having sponsor messages and the phone number to ring, with the newer version of the theme music, but with the original Celador endcap and Carlton endcap.

"New" is usually code for something that hasn't been seen on Challenge since Sky bought it. However that was back in 2010 so maybe "new" means something they've bought new to the channel (rights expired and bought them back?)

But yes, that's all "early instalment weirdness" as they say, especially the cordless phone (dare say it was a prop and didn't do anything) and the music was definitely added later. It probably only looks tighter because that would have been 4:3 when produced, which always looks a bit close compared to 16:9.

The credits are hardly surprising considering it was a three way split screen at the time with credits, phone number, the studio and IIRC a Teletext page and website. It was totally unusable outside of its initial broadcast, though it would be interesting to know how Celador themselves would have handled that if they'd flogged it abroad or something.

The £100 - £1000 music not playing on Rachel's run during the 1st show was clearly in error as it didn't occur in Graham 's run or on any others in the first series (excluding Christmas).

It seems to for a while simply mean something that they haven’t shown for a while.

Quite funny how they ended the first couple of series with the confetti operator wanting to justify their role so they fired off the confetti to close the series off and then when it came to Judith Keppel it failed to deploy!

I am absolutely loving the fairly unhacked repeats of Millionaire on Challenge. Compared to the patched 'Classic' ones. Pretty sure when they did before it was just S1. Now it is in to S3. Surprised why we've not been able to watch them this way before like you do with episodes of other quiz shows.

Also quite funny watching the slightly wonky, not quite 100% smooth nature of those first two series. Guess like that for every show at the start. Chris stringing it out to heck etc too for some tickly answers.

Challenge have aired Series 1 to 3 of Millionaire a few times between 2015-2019. Series 4 is airing for the 1st time since May 2015.

Whose Line has been running for a decade so it's done well. I suspect this is Nexstar basically cleaning house

Yeah, they just cancelled Stargirl too. I can see CW having a completely different lineup - and maybe even a new name - this time next year.
