One of this week’s better kept radio secrets.

His last regular weekend show will air tomorrow morning.

Confirmation from Mike Cass (Virgin’s content director) that Graham will still be popping up here and there.

Not giving anything away about who’s replacing him in the long term…

That's usually code for they'll never be heard on the station again. Think the same was said about Adele Roberts at Radio 1 last year and don't think she's been on since.

From recent interviews with Graham I get the impression his writing is now more his focus. In many ways a weekend radio show is actually a bigger commitment than a weekday one in terms of how it might impact on your personal life.

The timing also coincides with the end of the current series of the Graham Norton Show which aired it’s last new episode of the season last night.

Didn't it only return about a month ago?

Probably time for the BBC to start developing a new chat show to air in the Spring once he's wrapped up, with the hope it one day succeeds him in the slot for most of the year.

Apart from a week off at Christmas, it’s run continuously since the end of September!

I think the most recent chat show I've seen on the BBC is Chris & Rosie Ramsey. I'm not sure in its current form its ready to take over.

It's worth noting though that Graham Norton's chat show was quite different when it began on BBC Two.

Formerly 'Charlie Wells' of TV Forum.
