Big Brother Canada 12
#1

This has possibly been the strangest pre-season build-up since the program started 12 seasons ago. Its been completely quiet. The fandom has fled and the producers have done little to nothing to hype up one of longest running reality shows in Canadian history. Most of the lack of fan engagement comes down to the bone-headed decision to end the live feeds and offer up what they called Digital Dailies. Which the producers called "curated hours" of footage which retained the fun and strategy the fans love. It was none of that. Instead there were hours of chopped of conversations and hours of people cleaning, cooking or talking about simply nothing. In the middle of a good strategy talk the feed would change to nothing. Infuriating fans even more. And they would be released at odd times with no time stamps so there was no clue when it happened.

So up to this point with one promo released that gave absolutely nothing away about the theme. We go the first 4 images images inside the new house. From what I can see its mountains, marble and gold and a huge star on the floor in the middle of the living room. Could this be an All-Stars seasons. The website has been re-skinned but the new look again gives nothing. Fans has noticed that that "Digital Dailies" tab is now gone. Does that mean LIVE feeds will be back. Again producers are tight-lipped. In years past host and now one of the executive producers would have been running from news outlet to news outlet giving loads of interviews about what to expect from the upcoming season. Nothing. The show begins on 5th MARCH.

Well the house theme this year is Hollywood North. Which is centered around the Vancouver area. Certainly Toronto is a big production area as well. But setting seems to be the Mountains. So Vancouvers makes the most sense. It appears to be a glamourous mountain mansion. Its not overly done. In fact there isnt much in it. Lots of gold and marble and black and glossy images of mountains. You can tell there is less money spent on the house. Lots of the look is made up of large scale digital printed wall papers. Its done well, but it lacks the extra layer of theming previous designs have had in the past. They retained the ornate staircase from the last series. They moved the hotub inside and one of sponsor rooms actually has a car in it. Yes an actual car. Bit much. Not my favourite house but its not bad looking especially compared with the consistently ugly BBUSA house designs.

Here is the rest of the house tour. Again it features tons of large format digital wraps to make up visual interest that used more expensive elements in the past.

Having ditched the intro for the last 6 seasons a full title sequence is back this year - with a brand new theme. It's pretty awful. The main theme remains intact elsewhere in the programme, along with a sting in the usual style.

Oddly so far they've played it at the very beginning of each episode too, then had the recap/pre-titles sequence play afterwards.

I noticed that too. But strangely I viewed it as part of the Hollywood theme this year. The music isnt that great i agree. Id be surprised if its still around next year. If the show survives.
