Presumably there is no reason they can't use Cambridge in the New Year - they just won't be able to broadcast from both locations.
But there won't be any behind the scenes teams left in Cambs. You can't just spend money sending Norwich team to Cambs.

For a technical refit project you might well be able to do that. This also assumes all Norwich staff live the wrong side of Norwich. It is a 90 minute journey between the two sites. Compared to what the BBC must spend elsewhere on travel for a project on this scale that would seem an acceptable cost.

It's also within 15 minutes' walk of Cambridge North railway station, which has direct trains to/from Norwich. Presumably make going between studios via a greener transport method a bit easier if needed.

On a different note, noticed this morning's breakfast updates were BBC London instead of Look East.

I wouldn't suspect you'd need the full team to 'relocate' anyway. Editorial can still remain in Norwich, you only need presenters and gallery/studio team to temporarily work in Cambridge. And you only really need that for the main bulletins - the 'lesser' bulletins can easily come from a CSO set-up in Norwich. Fundamentally, Look East have the advantage (at least for now) that few regions have of having a second studio. When Norwich gets a refit and new set, it'd be odd to shun that in favour of decamping to a meeting room for a few weeks.

No different to North West Tonight setting up camp in Radio Merseyside's reception a number of years ago I guess?

No ITV Anglia News Weather sponsor for the evening news. Just played the ITV Weather sting.

At the end of this evening's Cambridge Look East there was a brief mention that tomorrow evening will be the last Cambridge edition.
