Nice bit of breakdown nostalgia this morning on Andy Marriott's show on Boom Radio: he played Walk in the Night by Junior Walker and the All Stars. If like me you grew up watching Granada in the 70s and 80s, hearing this tune was an indicator that a programme had fallen off air.
Actually I was half-expecting it to be cut off after a minute by Charles Foster's tones...

This has came onto YouTube. The fact the slide and announcement comes up after an advert is played, suggests either ATV couldn't get back to the film, or whoever was networking the film, weren't able to get it started again.

There was just a minor error with Adstream on Sky Showcase (North East region), where the ad didn’t start for a few seconds, and we got to see a VT clock:

I've occasionally seen this sort of thing happen in ad breaks - the ad runs for the correct duration but the start point is set too early. So you see the clock but the ad eventually crashes out early. Not saying that's exactly what happened here though.

When it goes off once, it goes off again after a quick repair. Not once but a few times.

It's rare for a pre-recorded programme to fall off air these days, there's usually a lot of resilliance. I wonder if this was an error when the tape was ingested and the main and backup server ports playing it back both suffered from the same glitches?

Looks more like an issue with playing out the ads - normally a commercial break in a networked film would have been about 3 minutes 40 seconds - looks like ATV got the ads to run again and rejoined the film a bit late.

The whole clip is a bit of a hotch potch. It would be absolutely unthinkable, as in UNTHINKABLE, for an ITV transmission controller to put out two back to back commercial breaks as shown in this clip. It would be against all the IBA rules concerning break patterns and durations - something which all transmission controllers would have ingrained on their hearts as it was so crucial to their job. This clip is not what it seems.

Something's been edited in that video, but I'm not sure what it is.
The ADC/ TV Collection is relatively reliable YouTube channel I feel (more than some I could mention) for this sort of material.
I'm wondering if they've just edited out what would be the next part of the film and the result left is that it looks like they showed some adverts, something fell over, then they showed some more ads. Further on towards the end it loos like it crashes from a film slide into the Colour Presentation slide.
