Ideal Worlds Future?

Memories of seeing Peter in panto in the 90s (one time they did a live episode of Star Pets on BBC1 after the panto had finished... sadly we'd gone with school and the teacher's dragged us away before it went on air) and a live Run The Risk show at Butlin's.

I just remember him as Ronald McDonald at the grand opening of our local branch of said fast food joint, back when that was still sufficiently new and interesting to warrant gala openings.

In many ways, he was as ubiquitous then as, say. Stephen Mulhern is now, although I think most of Peter's non-children's work was for the fledgling Sky, so it wasn't quite as big a saturation campaign.

That's not why they don't do that nowadays. Haven't they almost completely got rid of Ronald?

I think he's still around a bit in US promotions, but yes, I think there were various ethical and coulrophobic issues that marginalised him. Not that you get many grand openings of stores now at all, at least not near me.

Ideal World has been bought by TJC with plans to reinstate the website and Freeview channel.

Interesting.

So what does that mean given QVC bought the Ideal channel numbers, the old ideal test cards are still running, and TJC has SD and HD and they are spread across 6 different muxes

The only simulcast us TJC itself but TJC HD is ahead if GJC SD.

What will happen to the two test cards? And I wonder will they keep TJC itself in SD as well as HD?

Thanks

The article says they are thinking of replacing TJC Beauty with Ideal World so presumably taking the EPG slot over as well. Nothing about Ideal Extra though so I assume that will be discontinued.

Thanks. Now that TJC SD comes later than SD IE a few seconds later, maybe TJC SD will also go? We will see.
